Standards, guidelines and other requirements

The minimum standards for registration are set out in the Education and Training Reform Regulations 2017.

Schools and non-school education providers must meet their sector-specific minimum standards to be registered and operate in Victoria.

We have prepared guidelines to help schools and non-school providers understand the requirements under the minimum standards. Our guidelines provide details of what is required to become registered and to maintain registration.

We make guidelines in accordance with our legislative powers under the Education and Training Reform Act 2006. VRQA guidelines are legally enforceable documents that help you understand how to demonstrate compliance with the minimum standards.
