In May 2021, VRQA Chief Executive Officer (Director), Jonathan Kaplan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Local Jobs First Commissioner.
The MOU sets out an information sharing agreement between the two bodies to facilitate effective regulation of apprenticeships and traineeships in Victorian public sector construction projects.
As Victoria's education and training regulator, the VRQA registers apprentices and trainees, approves their employers, and ensures all parties meet their contractual obligations.
The Local Jobs First Commissioner promotes the employment of apprentices, trainees and cadets on government projects. They also support local industry through advocacy, engagement, monitoring and compliance activity.
Mr Kaplan met with Acting Local Jobs First Commissioner Greg Wilson to sign the MOU.
