Victorian home schooling trends continued to grow in 2017 with a 19 per cent increase from previous years — that's 904 new registrations for home schooling last year.
With over 5500 children being home schooled in more than 3500 households across the state, rural and regional Victoria accounts for almost half of all home school registrations.
Also split down the middle is gender, with male registrations slightly ahead at 52 per cent.
There is no notable increase in registrations during the transition from primary to secondary schooling, with registration decreasing in the senior secondary years.
