This year, revised Guidelines to the Minimum Standards and Requirements for School Registration commence for all Victorian registered schools and for those applying for registration.
For existing Victorian registered schools there is a period of transition with the new Guidelines commencing on 1 July 2019.
The updated Guidelines take effect for those applying for school registration from 1 January 2019.
The updated Guidelines replace the Guidelines to the Minimum Standards and Other Requirements for the Registration of Schools Including Those Offering Senior Secondary Courses. Schools should continue to comply with this version until the 1 July commencement.
Working with our school system stakeholders, we updated the evidence requirements within the Guidelines to reduce the regulatory burden for schools so that the requirements are up-to-date and support the provision of quality education. We've also rewritten the Guidelines to improve readability and clearly express compliance requirements for schools and applicants for school registration.
Release of the updated Guidelines follows a lengthy consultation process with our school stakeholders and the wider education community. Thank you to all those who worked with us on this project.
The Guidelines form part of the legal framework for the registration and regulation of schools. The Guidelines detail the requirements of the minimum standards for registration of schools and other requirements under the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 and the Education and Training Reform Regulations 2017.
