In June 2017, the new Education and Training Reform Regulations commenced, replacing the 2007 Regulations.
Under the new Regulations, a transition period allowed existing schools to operate under the 2007 Regulations until 1 July 2018.
For some schools, this means having all staff and governing authority members that fall within the Regulations' responsible persons definition complete a fit and proper person statutory declaration. Similarly, a declaration of a school's not-for-profit status also needs to be completed.
Schools should keep signed copies of the declarations on file so they can be provided upon request.
